Get To Know: Kelly!

We’d love for you to get better acquainted with the creators of Simply The Best! Dance Competition, so today we’re going to tell you a bit about Kelly!

Kelly took her first dance lesson at the age of three. She loves M&M’s, and she likes to unwind with a good book, sharing a delicious dinner with her hubby, and tackling intricate and magical craft projects.

Do you cry in movies? Which ones?
Oh man, every sad movie, rom com, family movie, action even… anything with a sad or happy ending. I’m a sap!

What was your favorite costume you’ve ever worn for competition?
It would have to be my costume from a lyrical routine I performed. It was a beautiful, flowing dress; when you spun around it would go for miles. It was pink spandex with a white fur trim…. Not sure if you can call that beautiful now, but back then it was awesome!!! I could twirl for hours in that dress. I still have it… I may have to try it out again soon.

What was your favorite routine you performed?
I danced to New Kids On The Block’s “The Right Stuff’” and it was awesome! The 80’s rocked!

What was the most embarrassing moment you’ve had at a competition/ performance?
I would sing all the songs I was dancing to on stage… lost in the moment I guess!

What’s the best advice you’ve received from a competition?
STOP singing on stage!

Have you ever been seriously lost?
Yes! I was fishing with my family in the middle of a lake, and nightfall fell upon us so quickly that our tiny motorboat couldn’t get us back to our dock in time. Two hours later, we were still looking for our dock – it was terrifying! Finally we decided to knock on someone’s door after docking to figure out where we were. The owners were so kind and drove us back to our cabin; turns out we were way over on the other side of the lake!

What made you decide to start Simply The Best!?
My sister Kristen was the visionary for this project. When she proposed the idea to me, it brought back so many great memories of growing up dancing with her. We would often go to competitions together, and we’d also dance around the house all the time! We LOVE the free spirit of motion and encourage everyone to feel the same way.

This was an idea we always talked about as kids but never knew we could make it happen until now. I couldn’t be happier to share this amazing adventure with Kristen. 2015 is sure to be an unforgettable year!
